Eagles vs. Bears MNF Intel
The Philadelphia Eagles take on the Chicago Bears to
conclude week 2 of NFL betting with Monday Night Football on ESPN. Sportsbook software
Chicago is -3 with a total of 42.5. However, bettors will have to
lay a little extra juice to bet on Chicago, anywhere from -112 to -120. The
total is straight across the board. The line opened at the Bears -1 and 43.
Stevie Vincent of OffshoreInsiders.com says it was not so much sharp action
that moved the line, but the Eagles injury report.
Philadelphia is very thin at DB with Leodis McKelvin now
out. Chicago added No. 1 pick Kevin White to play alongside Alshon Jeffrey and
many believe this will cause matchup problems for the depleted Eagles
secondary. With a database that goes back to 1989, OffshoreInsiders.com reports that
winless home favorites are 1-4 against the spread against undefeated teams on
Monday Night Football. Ironically the only exception was in 1994 when the
Eagles covered against the Bears.
In a rarity, 55 percent of ATS bets offshore and Las Vegas
combined are on the underdogs. In what is standard for the public, 69 percent
of totals tickets written are on the over.
Spread betting trends
(all records are ATS): Philadelphia is 4-1 on MNF, but 4-10 their last 14
on grass. Chicago is also 4-1 on MNF, but 6-19 at home. The underdog is 8-3 in
the series.
Totals angles: Philadelphia
has gone under 6-0 after allowing less than 15 points in their previous
contest, though over 20-7 to teams with a losing record. Chicago has gone under
8-2 on grass.
